Get the Look

Rock Chick

The rock chick look is one of those permatrends than refuses to disappear but that doesn’t mean it’s any easier to get right.

The trick is to enjoy a sporadic smattering of rock-style (either a randomly placed accessory, pair of shoes or a nonchalantly added leather jacket) instead of doing the all out rock look – think more Agyness Dean and less Jon Bon Jovi.

A touch of rock rebellion can be contrasted with more feminine pieces to balance it out and give your outfit a more unique look. Try mixing florals or abstract prints with a leather jacket, biker style boots with mini dresses or subtle skull accessories with cute t-shirts.

If you’re more sweet girl than bad girl but want a little fix of the trend then forget slogan t-shirts and ripped jeans and choose a big leather shopper. Hardware is back on bags with a vengeance for autumn winter and exposed zips and pyramid studding is all you need to inject a little punk attitude.

With its strong biker influences, Mulberry’s Poppy is a fantastic example and a definite new season must-have.

Leather jackets are (of course) a key piece, are fairly easy to wear and will coordinate with pretty much anything so layer a black number over a printed t-shirt and team with super skinny jeans and boots to keep to the theme.

Now all you need is a dash of kohl eyeliner and some tattoos (perhaps temporary??) to give it that extra authenticity – decorative piercings optional.
