The Dark Knight has been this year's most talked about film so it's no surprise that this week's premiere was one of the most hotly anticipated.

Complete with Batmobile, the stars of the new movie made their way down the red carpet to a cacophony of screaming fans.

In the film Christian Bale reprises his critically acclaimed role as Batman but it is the late Heath Ledger's role as the Joker which has been the biggest talking point for critics and fans alike.

Bale said of Ledger's performance: “He deserves all the credit that people are giving him.”
