The Final Frontier
02.09.2008So where to go next summer? The Italian lakes, sunny Marbella, the Canaries? Or how about a trip to space? Yes, that big, black, neverending stuff, the final frontier...
Consider it... On the Go tours are now offering three exclusive packages to Russia for guests to experience zero-gravity, weightlessness and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to check out Earth from far, far away. Get out of town! (no, do)
Here are the deals:
For £14,979 per person, you can take a flight in a MIG-29, one of the most advanced combat airplanes in the Russian Air Force, nay the world, for a 30-minute flight into the boundaries of space.Of course, you'll be medically tested first for G-load limitations (quite important apparently) and special instructions are given on how to use the technical and breathing equipment. Goody.
Then there's the Star City Centrifuge, at £2,979 per person, for a 7-minute wunder-experience of what G-loads and weightlessness feel like. Step inside the world’s largest centrifuge, the TsF-18, at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center where you'll experience the immense force of gravity as it simulates a Soyuz rocket launch, until reaching the orbit of the ISS and the re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere. Yikes.
Lastly, why not have a go at Zero Gravity, £2,979 per person for a 1.5hr flight with experienced instructors and 6 minutes of zero gravity onboard your flight. You'll feel like a proper astronaut, floating about onboard the fuselage of an aerobus IL-76 MDK. Zero Gravity (pure weightlessness) is said to be similar to the feeling experienced whilst riding a rollercoaster (sick?). During the flight you'll undergo 15 sessions of Zero Gravity, each lasting some 25 seconds.
All the above packages are available as bolt-ons to any of On the Go’s group or tailor-made tours, including return transfers from Moscow and excluding international flights. To book any of the above packages visit http://www.onthegotours.com or call 020 7371 1113.
