We suggest heading to the Tromso Wilderness Centre in Northern Norway to do some night-time dog sledding. Make sure to look up between 8 and 10pm and you may just witness one of nature’s most beautiful little gifts.

2. Glowing Water. Once you’ve seen the dancing fluorescent green swirls in the sky, we propose a bit of late night water gazing. Without getting too biochemical on you, it’s the phitoplankton that you should look out for. Emitting the most beautiful luminous glimmer this is best appreciated on a calm summer evening. The Greek Isles in late August will most definitely deliver.

3. Mount Everest up close and personal. As of September, one of the best things to see will have to be Mount Everest as you jump from its peak. Now the world’s highest mountain is pretty impressive by all accounts, but we’re certain you’ll appreciate it on a whole new level when you’re free falling alongside it.

4. Be blessed in Hampi. India’s ‘City of Ruins’ is a pretty spectacular place (it has after all been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site) but what makes this experience one of our top 7 is that for a rupee you can be blessed by Lakshmi the elephant. Literally, place a rupee in Lakshmi’s trunk and she will kindly give you an anointing pat on the head. To some this may not be one of the world’s greatest wonders, but in our mind it’s quite special.

5. Volcano surfing in Nicaragua. In Cerro Negro it is possible to ride the 'ring of fire' as you surf down the side of a volcano and pass over still warm ashes. Forget the Jaws Wave in Hawaii, this is the real deal. So grab your board, hike to the top and get ready for the ride of your life. There is no doubt that this phenomenal and undoubtedly wondrous experience in one of the world's greatest tropical destinations cannot be beat.

6. Japan in bloom. We suggest jetting off to Japan to witness the blooming cherry blossoms. Hanami season in March and April is, for many Japanese, the most magnificent time of year.
