Best Of New York
11.09.2008Fashion Week season kicked off with New York last week. If you're heading over to the city that never sleeps here are our top picks for how to make the most of your trip.
Where to Stay:
There is an abundance of lovely hotels in New York so it really does depend on your budget and what you're looking for. Our favourite is the Trump International in New York which is not only perfectly situated and generally a very snazzy hotel, but has a few optional extras such as chocolate strawberries and red rose petals which can be added to make the stay even more special. The Trump currently has a great value package with luxury shop Bergdorf Goodman for six people called “The Ultimate Shoe Lover Experience Package” which includes a stay in the three bedroom suite, vouchers to spend in Bergdorf Goodman, a private party in their famous shoe salon, an in-room pedicure and lots of other goodies for £3,300.
Find out more about the packages here.
Where to Eat:
For superb Japanese food and something a little special head to Megu, in the Tribeca area. Food-wise Megu blows most other Japanese restaurants out of the water. Enjoy some of the freshest sashimi in town and wonderfully presented kobe beef (the waiter sets fire to it and leaves it to sizzle on a rock right in front of you. Order the tasting menu or you'll be gagging for more. The stunning oriental décor is finished with an ice buddha and giant bell.

Where to be Relax:
The Cornelia Day Spa on Fifth Avenue is the perfect escape from the hustle an bustle of the outside world. Their classic facial is a luxuriant hour-long experience which will leave you cleansed, glowing and relaxed. Follow this with some styling by David Evangelista, hairdresser to the stars, and you'll leave feeling like a million dollars. Take a look at the treatments on offer here.
