An Indian Adventure

My recollection is calm.

Karan: Really? Oh wow I must be really good.

Adrien, how much of an outsider did you feel coming into this film in as much that Jason and Owen were already a part of this Wes Anderson film making family? And I take it you're an only child did making this movie make you wish you had brothers of your own?

Brody: I'll answer the brother, sibling question first. I think there are definitely advantages and disadvantages to having siblings and when things work well or even when life is difficult it's nice to have family I to have a very close relationship with my parents and I have very dear friends who I can rely on and I value friendship and I value family. I think the fact that we were all in such an exotic location and we were all on such an adventure it created a real sense of family and closeness not only Owen and Jason but everyone else including the crew which leads to the second question which is really a credit to Wes because he creates an environment which I think everyone feels very important and valuable in. There is a mutual sense of respect and I never once felt like an outsider. On the contrary I felt very much welcomed into a very close knit group which was kind of like being part of a theatre company which is a wonderful environment for an actor sense of ease that we all had we all worked very hard but it also had a playful free feeling as well.

This is for Wes and Jason, You went to India with Roman before. How did your experience of that impact on what went into the film?

Anderson: Jason knows this one.

Schwartzman: You wanna take it first and I'll take it from you.

Anderson: No, you do the whole thing.

Schwartzman: Where do I begin?

Anderson: Begin with when you went to India with me and Roman.

Schwartzman: (laughs) We'd been writing for almost a year and a half or so and we had a good deal on paper but also a good deal not on paper that was still looking for a place in the script that we were trying to write.
